Engagement letter for Chairman Yang Feng

Calligraphy is the voice of heart. As an inheritor of Chinese Calligraphy, Yang voiced his wish to learn and practice the spirit of a keynote speech by President Xi Jinping on a literary work symposium.

He said frankly, "In many areas the traditions of Chinese people are invaded by foreign culture. Without a keyboard, many youngsters cannot write. I am worried, but I don't hate it. Our society is progressing, but we have neglected inheritance during the progress."

I have seen hope for inheritance of Chinese people when the Suggestions on Inheritance and Development of Excellent Traditional Chinese Culture was printed and circulated jointly by the Office of Central Committee of CPC and Office of State Council. Especially in the past year, I feel that my efforts and dedication were meaningful. I received an engagement letterfrom Chairman Su Shishu at the presidium, which asked me to assume the responsibility to carry forward the ancient traditional Chinese culture. As a member of "Chinese Calligraphers Association", this is a responsibility I cannot relinquish. I wish that the traditional culture will no longer be considered as "out-dated" by the younger generation and Chinese people can write Chinese characters well. I will fulfill my responsibility as the deputy director. I will not give up until I pass away, for I am an inheritor of Chinese characters.
